Gavin Rossdale: CBB Interview

While wife Gwen Stefani took care of the kids in California, musician Gavin Rossdale wowed tennis fans in south Florida this weekend, teaming with Lindsay Davenport to beat tennis legend Martina Navratilova 6-2 in Sunday’s final match of the Chris Evert/Raymond James Pro-Celebrity Tennis Classic.

“It is magical having two kids instead of one, and I miss them when I am away like this,” Gavin tells Celebrity Baby Blog during the tennis event gala. “Two are twice as ambitious as one.”

The former Bush frontman is also a talented tennis player who adds an important dimension to Evert’s annual celebrity lineup. He says he loves to come to Delray Beach, Fla. to play in the charity event — celebrating its 20th year — but it means leaving the kids for three days.

“I never know what will happen with these two,” the rocker laughs. “Kingston is three and old enough to be developing an attitude, and Zuma at 15 months is learning from his older brother”

It’s been a busy month for Gavin — having played a set of solo shows in the Chicago area, he headed to the Sunshine State for the tennis classic and will appear on Criminal Minds this Wednesday, playing a goth rock star turned murder suspect. As the holidays approach, the Stefani-Rossdales will be jetting off to Gavin’s native London for some rest and relaxation.

“We alternate each year,” Gavin, 44, explains. “Last year we stayed in the Los Angeles area, but now we’re excited about having an old-fashioned, European holiday. “

He is already making plans to attend plenty of children’s plays, movies and events to keep the kids distracted when they aren’t shopping and eating.

“The kids are better and funnier than ever,” he shares. “Fatherhood is everything they say it is and more. I love it.”
