Bush: Manila Show Review

BUSH THRILLED TO BE IN MANILA. Prior to Evanescence’s performance, Gavin Rossdale led the alternative rock band Bush in warming up the crowd.

“What a privilege to play for you good people. We were in Muhammad’s dressing room… I could feel him in there,” quipped Gavin, prompting the crowd to clap and cheer.

It will be recalled that legendary boxer Muhammad Ali fought Joe Frazier in a monumental match held at the Araneta Coliseum in 1975.

The band performed their songs such as “Machinehead,” “All My Life,” and “Greedy Fly.”

Halfway through their set, Gavin jumped off the stage and went around the Big Dome hugging fans and shaking hands. The vocalist/guitarist even climbed up to the upper box and continued with his quest to reach as many fans as possible.

Bush and Evanescence performing back-to-back on one night at the Smart-Araneta Coliseum created rock euphoria that won’t be forgotten by concertgoers for a long time.

Gavin Rossdale’s Guide to the French Riviera Q & A – Vanity Fair

Q&A with Gavin Rossdale via VanityFair.com

Where I Go: Gavin Rossdale
The rock-’n’-roll dad, whose band, Bush, is about to embark on a worldwide tour to promote its new album The Sea of Memories, retreats to the South of France with his entourage—wife Gwen Stefani and sons Kingston and Zuma—to rejuvenate after long days on the road.

Q&A by Anthony Rotunno and Dana Mathews

To get away from it all, I go to . . . the South of France.

My favorite place to stay is . . . the Hotel du Cap-Eden-Roc: parkland settings, cabanas, and a kind and elegant staff. Sunsets on the terrace and beef tartare overlooking the sea. Such a grand old hotel filled with so much history—and, of course, the pet cemetery.

My ideal travel companions are . . . my wife and two boys.

When I’m in the mood for room service, my favorite order is . . . steak frites, a Bordeaux, and a mille-feuille—or three.

My favorite local cuisine to indulge in is . . . the great Mediterranean diet—the great seducer of all palates: fresh, local, and washed down with the perfect wine.

To stay in shape, my on-the-go fitness regime is . . . swimming becomes a daily ritual.

My suitcase must absolutely contain . . . the essential chargers.

When it comes to luggage, I’m a . . . woeful underpacker. I love to travel light.

When I’m in the mood for some retail therapy, the shops I must visit are . . . knife shops. I recently bought a Porsche knife and it’s in my hand more than I expected.

My favorite best-kept secret about the South of France is . . . the further from Cannes, the better it gets.

When I’m in the mood to paint the town red, I go to . . . mountain-village bars.

My favorite travel pastimes are . . . iPad shenanigans.

Upon arrival, I most look forward to . . . getting a few records together, then investing some time in each one. Music has a way of unfurling.
